How does CBD work for pets?

Did you know that dogs have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) similar to humans, but they have MORE cannabinoid receptors in their brains than we do?!

How freaking cool is that?!

The animal and human endocannabinoid systems are similar in a lot of ways and we both have two key cannabinoid receptors – cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2).

CB1 receptors are mostly found in the brain and central nervous system and they impact our memory, emotional regulation, pain regulation and motor control. CB2 receptors are found throughout the body on cells associated with our immune and digestive systems and they play an important role in immune function, pain management and inflammation.

A dog’s ECS also produces its own endocannabinoids just like us – pretty cool, right?! Our bodies not only are designed to receive the benefits of our favorite plant, they also create their own magic!

When a dog ingests CBD, the CB1 and CB2 receptors in their ECS work to process it throughout their body and send chemical messages to the nerve cells to help bring IMBALANCED functions back in BALANCE. CB1 receptors help your pup restore overall function and when the CB2 receptors are activated, they will work to help your dog reach a place of pain relief and relaxation.

CBD is a favorite wellness supplement in our household because it helps our pups so much with:
Anxiety
Arthritis and joint pain
Digestive issues
Immune support

Every dog is different, but if yours is struggling and they need some extra support, I would highly recommend trying a reputable CBD brand made specifically for animals.
